New Jersey manages to arrest a corrections officer for carrying a gun

You’ll note that this wasn’t a case of Hughes shooting anyone, drawing his weapon on people or doing anything else related the presence of his Glock on New Jersey soil. He had it in the car with him as part of his normal routine. And now, according to the press release, he’s looking at the possibility of a minimum of three and a half years in jail if convicted. Hughes is a prison supervisor, not a police officer, so he’s apparently not covered by the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act.

Last year, Chris Christie issued roughly half a dozen pardons to legal gun owners who were caught up in Jersey’s oppressive gun laws, including three in October and another for a Marine in December. When those pardons were handed down, some of the more skeptical observers hinted that he might have been doing it to impress conservatives in early primary states. Now that he’s off the presidential campaign trail and not facing another election for Governor because of term limits, he’s pretty much free to do as he chooses. This is his chance to cement his legacy in one regard and show that he truly supports the Second Amendment in his heart and not just when he needs a few points in the polls.

Now, we will truly find out about Chris Christie's 2nd Amendment credibility.

My prediction, he has none.

New Jersey Actor Faces Jail Time Over Possession Of Air Pistol During Movie Shoot

If it seems as though that every couple of months there is another high-profile gun control injustice in New Jersey, that’s because there is. The latest incident occurred in Woodbridge, N.J. when a local actor unwittingly violated the Garden State’s onerous gun laws.

According to an account provided by New York City’s WPIX, actor and stand-up comedian Carlo Bellario accepted the role of a gangster in a low budget film titled, Vendetta Games. While shooting a portion of the movie in November, the filmmaker provided Bellario with an air pistol to simulate a real firearm for the scene.

Describing what happened to WPIX, Bellario said, “Our scene was a simulated car chase scene. We just drove around the neighborhood. I’m pretending I’m shooting with the recoil, with a pellet gun. I guess people in the neighborhood saw that. They call the police. We get back and we’re surrounded by cop cars!”

Under New Jersey’s gun laws, air pistols are treated as actual firearms.

Paging Chris Christie! 2nd Amendment Defender my arse. He needs to plead that any none criminal, who get charged for violating any of New Jersey's onerous gun laws, will get a pardon. Period. Then he can make sone claim to be a defender of the Constitution.

Chris Christie Pardons Marine Arrested for Lawfully Purchased Handgun

On September 6, U.S. Marine Joshua Velez visited his brother in New Bergen, New Jersey, and was arrested for possession of a lawfully purchased 9mm handgun and hollow-point bullets.

Velez lives in Davers, Massachusetts, and is a Marine recruiter in Boston, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. Velez has a license to carry his handgun in Massachusetts.

On September 6, Velez was stopped by police for failure to use a turn signal. During the traffic stop, the officer discovered Velez’s unloaded Ruger 9mm handgun, which was locked in the glove compartment of Velez’s truck and transported into New Jersey unintentionally. Velez was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of hollow-point bullets in the state of New Jersey.

On December 23, Governor Chris Christie issued a pardon on behalf of Velez.

Great news for the Marine, but it's a blatant political act to boost his floundering Presidential campaign. Christie has only recently discovered the 2nd Amendment as a individual right, when he decided to run for President. He has said nothing about the case of Carol Bowne. She was waiting for approval of her gun permit to buy a handgun, when she was killed by her ex-boyfriend. Jersey law states you must apply for a gun permit, before you can legally purchase a handgun. New Jersey state law requires the Sate to get back to the applicant for the permit within 30 days. It usually never does. It typically takes 6 months or more. If Christie truly believes in the 2nd Amendment, he should have used this woman's death to call out the New Jersey legislature to pass a modification of the law. You will automatically be granted a permit, if the States does not deny you application within 30 days. But he did not.

Christie To CNBC -- ‘Even in New Jersey What You’re Doing Is Called Rude’

New Jersey governor and Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie excoriated CNBC for its debate questions on fantasy football gambling and climate change.



“We are talking about getting government involved in fantasy football? wait a second, we have $19 trillion in debt, people out of work, ISIS and al Qaeda attacking us and we’re talking about fantasy football? Can we stop?” Christie interrupted when CNBC moderator John Harwood asked Florida Gov. Jeb Bush his views on regulations on fantasy football. He added, “Let’s get the government to protect our people and support the American family. Enough on fantasy football. Let people play. Who cares? I want to go back to the issues.”

Deadly Consequences of Draconian Gun Regulations

Carol Bowne is dead — murdered in cold blood on her own property by a violent criminal who would not be restrained by good intentions. But there is no smoking gun, because she lived and died in New Jersey.

Bowne was a 39-year-old hairdresser from Berlin Township who had become increasingly nervous about her ex-boyfriend. Convinced that he intended to do her physical harm, she took out a restraining order, had security cameras installed at her home, and purchased an alarm system. She also hoped to buy a firearm for her defense. On April 21 of this year, she began the glacial process of obtaining a New Jersey permit to purchase a gun.

Defending his tardiness, the local police chief explained that the application process usually takes more than two months, and that when Bowne died, his team was still waiting for her fingerprints to be processed. Perhaps so. But this should serve as no acceptable excuse. By state law, New Jersey is required to get back to permit petitioners within 30 days. It didn’t.

It almost never does. Instead, would-be gun owners report waiting for three, four, six, and even nine months for permission to exercise what the Second Amendment makes clear is an unalienable individual right. The rules do not apply to the government.

For the citizenry, by contrast, minor infractions are routinely transmuted into life-destroying sentences. Had there been no public outcries, New Jersey would at present be hosting in its prisons a black single mother of two who misunderstood the concealed-carry rules in Atlantic County; a septuagenarian retiree who bought a non-functional, 260-year-old pistol from an antiques dealer and was arrested for carrying without a license; and a security guard and aspiring police officer who inadvertently left his firearm in his glove box while driving with his girlfriend. For those who wish to enjoy their right to keep and bear arms, the Garden State represents a significant blot on the American escutcheon.

When Gov. Christie stars running for President, he needs to asked about these cases and why he has DONE NOTHING, as Governor to fix these problems of the State VIOLATING the peoples 2nd Amendment Rights.

New Jersey Law Would Ban Many Common Hunting Rifles

The gun ban that has gone to New Jersey Governor Christie for signature has been described as a “gun magazine restriction“,  but it bans numerous common sport and hunting rifles. The ban has no exemption for rifles with fixed magazines, including most common .22 rimfire rifles that are used for sport and small game hunting…and almost never used in crimes. Assembly Bill 2006 bans rifles that meet this definition: (4) A semi-automatic rifle with a fixed magazine capacity exceeding [15] 10 rounds . . .

The bracket and underline show the existing and proposed laws. There are no exemptions for grandfathering. Anyone who possesses such rifles after the ban goes into effect will be guilty of a felony. This has already happened at least once, when the owner of a .22 Marlin that he won at a police raffle was convicted for owning the firearm. The model owned was either the one pictured below a very similar Marlin.  It is an “assault weapon” under current New Jersey law, as it has a magazine capacity of 17.

If Christie signs this law, it will prove that he is worse than a RINO. It will prove he is a Democrat, like Schwazenagger. Asd he can kiss Presidential aspirations goodbye.

Jake Tapper — Christie Got More Scrutiny for BridgeGate Than Hillary Clinton Did for Benghazi

CNN’s Jake Tapper joined conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt on Wednesday to talk about how the media’s covered “BridgeGate” versus Benghazi. When asked by Hewitt, Tapper said, “Are they getting the same degree of scrutiny? No, of course not.”

That being said, Tapper acknowledged there are “complicated reasons” for that disparity and admitted, “I don’t know that Benghazi got less coverage in aggregate than BridgeGate,” citing his own reporting on Benghazi in the ensuing months. Tapper contrasted the way Chris Christie handled BridgeGate, with a two-hour press conference to get everything out there, with Hillary Clinton being more cagey, saying at the time she “was on her way out” and she hasn’t really done that many interviews in the intervening time.

Christie has a almost 2 hour long press conference about bridgegate. Has Hillary answered any real questions yet on Benghazi?

Why are liberals becoming even more vile in their public discourse? I contend it’s a result, in part, of the fact that they get away with it, and they gain power as conservative leadership retreats from the ugliness. There have never been any serious consequences for liberal hate speech, threats and general cultural assault.

Conservatives, on the other hand, the target of that bile, act on their inherent decency and “forgive and forget.”

My concern is the reaction by high-profile conservatives who, after having been smeared in the most repugnant of ways, immediately accept the apologies of the liberals who slander them. This pattern needs to change.

Conservatives must recognize that accepting apologies from liberals who cross the line only reinforces the myth that these attitudes are one-off “mistakes,” uttered by normally decent people.

As a former liberal, I assure you nothing could be further from the truth.

Arguing for harm to come to someone because you disagree with them is neither a mistake nor an accident. It’s a contemplated idea, cultivated into a message and delivered as an argument. Targeting a toddler for derision because it serves a political agenda isn’t something that mistakenly pops into someone’s head. It springs from an existing loathsome well.

It would be valuable for today’s conservative leadership to recognize that comments like Mr. Bashir’s and Ms. Harris-Perry’s aren’t mistakes — they are public illustrations of what sits at the core of today’s liberalism — hatred, paranoia and cruelty.

Conservatives have known for along time the hatred and loathing the Left has toward them. As Charles Krauthammer once said, "Conservatives think liberals are stupid. Liberals think conservatives are evil."

Lessons for Obama and Conservatives from Chris Christie

President Obama could learn a thing or two from Governor Chris Christie, who took charge in a press conference on Thursday about "revenge traffic" at the George Washington Bridge -- a new one for seasoned New Jerseyans, who have spent the bulk of their lifetimes battling traffic throughout the state for any number of reasons, none of which has been revenge.

Christie actually investigated the matter within his administration, answered questions put to him by the press, held individuals in his administration accountable -- indeed, firing them -- and did not foist blame on the other party or the media. Were Obama to act like this in regard to any one of the alphabet scandals plaguing his administration, his approval ratings might not be so abysmal.

The press conference is also another learning experience for conservatives. As is always the case when Republicans are in office and have their dirty laundry aired or messy situations to clean up, the press is all hot and bothered about this scandalous "revenge traffic" at the GWB. So they took to grilling Christie with the self-righteousness only they can muster as the fourth check on Republican power -- hoping, I'm sure, he would blow his top.

They certainly did not handle him with the kid gloves we are accustomed to seeing when they interview Obama, Hillary, Holder, Susan Rice, or Kathleen Sebelius. As we know, the press always employs an unmistakable presumption of innocence when liberals are under fire, even when lives have been lost, freedoms infringed upon, funds squandered, and large swaths of the economy appropriated. Here the crime was traffic congestion intentionally imposed out of political revenge.

I dislike Christie, because he is a Republican from a Blue State. He is a Pro-Gun Control Social Moderate, who is fiscally conservative, a Pete Wilson/Meg Whitman/Establishment Republican type. He is about as conservative as a Republican as you can get in New Jersey or California, but nothing like Reagan. But it was nice to see him stand up to the Press and not whither under the glare that most Democrats couldn't withstand 9 Basically all libs, like Obama, Hillary, Holder, Susan Rice, or Kathleen Sebelius.

And as I said yesterday, he was up there answering question for a longer time about a minor scandal, than the Dear Leader and his Regime has answered in the last 5 years.

Christie Fires Staff, Takes 90 Minutes of Questions

While there still needs to be a full and complete investigation into exactly how involved the governor's office was in the closing of the George Washington Bridge, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie came out on Thursday to give a master class in how to handle a national political scandal and media frenzy. It was the anti-Obama approach: Christie announced the firing of two of his closest aides and answered questions until the media started to complain about how long he took questions.

Christie took every question hurled his way for ninety minutes and did so without playing down, dismissing, or using the kind of legalistic language President Obama has become famous for during his administration. Obama has also never agreed to answer more than a handful of questions after the news breaking of any one of the numerous scandals that have hit over the last five years.

Also in sharp contrast to Obama, using clear and unequivocal language, Christie said he knew absolutely nothing about his staff's involvement in lane closures and took full responsibility and acknowledged his own mistakes in not taking the issue seriously when it first came up. Showing more emotion than Obama ever has, Christie repeatedly and personally apologized to the citizens of New Jersey and the media, and said more than once that he was personally "humiliated" over what happened.

Leadership and firing those responsible, the Anti-Obama.
