NYTimes Editorial -- Congress Should Secretly Suspend Second Amendment Rights

From The Daily Caller:
A New York Times editorial advocates for a new law allowing a secret court to take away citizens’ right to own a gun at the discretion of the federal government.

Citing the Orlando terror attack that left 50 dead including the shooter and 53 wounded at a gay nightclub, the piece advocates for a “no-buy” list similar to “no-fly” lists. Under the law, suspected terrorists would not be able to buy a gun. In an attempt to ensure the integrity of the lists and preserve due process, the author proposes people only be added to this no-buy list after a secret court rules they are ineligible, similar to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act court hearings where the federal government obtains permission to wiretap. Under this proposal, an American who has never been convicted of a crime could be denied their right to buy a gun simply because a secret court decided it should be that way.
I would agree under one condition, that a secret court could do the same thing toward news organizations regarding the 1st Amendment!

Curt Schilling Will Make Liberal Heads Explode With His Latest Comments On Guns

From The Daily Caller:
Baseball legend Curt Schilling fired off a lengthy blog post about liberals and guns.

The blog post titled, “You want to argue gun control? Know what the hell you’re talking about then!” laments the misinformation and lies of liberals.

He laid the smackdown with some obvious information that he apparently feels most liberals aren’t aware of. He wrote in part:
What I am now distraught about is the sheer volume of people calling for this corrupt, lying phony agenda driven group of divisive human beings in D.C. to make more laws. I can’t think of anything we need LESS!

People understand this, for the most part every single thing you clamor for in the way of new laws? THEY ALREADY EXIST!

It’s illegal to shoot another human

It’s illegal to buy a gun without a serial number

It’s illegal to enter a bar with a loaded firearm that is a ‘gun free’ zone

It’s illegal to purchase ANY firearm if you beat your wife, are on the FBI watch list and about 200 other things this sadistic piece of garbage was.

All these things are illegal, always have been.

More laws don’t stop the lawless, they hinder the law abiding.
Drips the mic!

Philadelphia Inquirer -- Waiting Period Could Have Prevented Sandy Hook

From Breitbart's Big Journalism:
On June 13, the Philadelphia Inquirer weighed in on the feeding frenzy against AR-15s with a column that claimed a waiting period could have prevented Adam Lanza from opening fire on Sandy Hook innocents.

The immediate flaw with this argument: Lanza stole his guns. In so doing, he circumvented any and all gun controls. So a waiting period would not have made a bit of difference.

On the other hand, the Inquirer column contends that a waiting period might have prevented Omar Mateen from allegedly killing around 50 innocents in Orlando. The problem with this suggestion is that Mateen did submit to a waiting period for the handgun he used in the attack. In fact, Mateen complied with all gun control laws to acquire his guns and even possessed a Florida Security Officer license and a Statewide Firearms License on top of everything else.

The Inquirer somehow missed this.
It was not missed, but ignored!

They won't let the facts get in the way of the narrative.
Seriously. Adam Lanza blew past all gun control by stealing his guns, and he killed 26 people. Omar Mateen submitted to every gun control on the books — including a waiting period for his handgun — and he allegedly killed about 50. Can the Inquirer explain the advantage of a waiting period?
Ask every one of you gun control advocating friends one question, "What law would have prevented Mateen from getting his guuns?

Guess Who A Watch-list Firearms Ban Would Have Missed?

From Ed Morrissey at Hot Air via H/T at Instapundit:
Senate Democrats plan to thunder back to the upper chamber today to demand passage of a gun-control bill in the wake of the Orlando terrorist attack. As was the case in 2015, the proposal contains provisions to deny firearms sales to anyone on a federal terror watch list or no-fly list. Guess who would have managed to slide by that ban? The Orlando terrorist himself, of course:
The man who police say killed 49 people in a brutal rampage in Orlando, Fla., early on Sunday morning was on a federal watch list for roughly 10 months in 2013 and 2014, while he was the subject of an FBI probe.

But then Omar Mateen was taken off the list soon after the investigation ended in March of 2014, FBI Director James Comey said on Monday

“He was watch-listed with the opening of the preliminary investigation and he was taken off the watch list when the investigation was closed,” Comey told reporters.
In other words, the Senate bill demanded by Democrats would have done absolutely nothing to keep the terrorist in Orlando from purchasing his weapons. That has been true of every event which has prompted this proposal. This came up most recently in the wake of the San Bernardino terrorist attack, when not only were neither of the attackers on any watch list, DHS had just let Tashfeen Malik into the US despite her publicly expressed radical-jihadist sympathies.
Not surprising! One can't let a crisis go to waste.

Orlando Terrorist Called 911 Moments Before Attack To Pledge His Allegiance To ISIS

From The Daily Caller:
Omar Mateen, the man who murdered 50 people and wounded 53 more at an Orlando nightclub, reportedly called 911 moments before the shooting to pledge his allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, according to NBC News reporter Pete Williams.
Yep, more proof that the shooter was a jihadi!

Mass shooting and hostage taking at Orlando gay nightclub appears to be Islamic terrorism

From Thomas Lifson at The American Thinker Blog:
Update: The attacker has been identified as Omar Mateen, a US-born citizen whose parents came to the US from Afghanistan. The Daily Beast:
Omar Mateen of Port Saint Luice, Florida has been identified as the gunman who killed 20 people at a Orlando nightclub, CBS News, the Washington Post, and NBC News report, citing law enforcement officials. Mateen is a U.S. citizen; his parents are from Afghanistan, CBS News reports. FBI Agent Ron Hopper told reporters Mateen may have leanings towards Islamic extremism.
If the early indications of Islamic terror being the motivation for a mass slaughter of homosexuals prove to be true, jihad should become a top concern of the LGBT political movement. The evidence is quickly mounting that Islamic terror was at the root of shooting 20 dead (as far as is currently known) and wounding 42 others, as well as taking hostages.
Let's see if this shooting meets the radical jihadi checklist.

1.) Shooter - Muslim - Check

2.) Target - Gay night club - check

3.) weapons - rifles, pistol, and IED - Check

4.) casualties - massive - check

So, the answer is yes!

Obama’s Orlando funeral dilemma

From Thomas Lifson at The American Thinker Blog:
What will President Obama do about the memorial service that is certain to follow the awful carnage in Orlando this morning? He has a clear pattern, but this incident does not fit in very well.

In Charleston, SC, the decision was easy. The victims were black and the perpetrator was a white racist. Two check marks, so a presidential visit was assured.

In San Bernardino, the perpetrators were Islamic, and the victims were of multiple ethnicities, including protected classes. A mixed signal, but because the perps were of a group that must be shielded from any public perception of collective responsibility, a presidentisl visit was out of the question.

But now in Orlando, we have a Muslim perp, but the victims are another highly favored group that collectively is a bedrock constituency of the Democrats: gays.

What’s Obama to do?

If he snubs the memorial service, he risks offending gays. But if he goes, he risks highlighting Islamic hostility to gays, as well as the threat of global jihad.

If I had to bet, I’d say he plays golf.

Seems about right!

Orlando gay nightclub shooter was a registered Democrat

From Thomas Lifson at The American Thinker Blog:
The shooter who killed 20 and wounded 42 at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Omar Mir Siddique Mateen, was a registered Democrat who has voted in at least 3 recent general elections, according to voters.findthedata.com. He registered to vote on July, 19,2006, but skipped the election that November. But he voted by absentee ballot in the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections, presumably for his party’s candidate, Barack Obama. He even voted in the off year 2014 general election, this time showing up at the polls to vote, perhaps a sign of increasing political enthusiasm.

Why bother noting this? Becuase if he had been a Christian Republican, you can bet everything you own that the media would be trumpeting it from the rooftops. And if he had owned any Trump paraphenalia, it would be the biggest story in the world.
Just as ABC News jump on the Aurora movie shooter, the Media was hoooping it was a trump supporter and not a radical jahadi.

Ooops!

Terror in Orlando -- Approximately 50+ dead, 50+ More Wounded at Gay Nightclub

From CNN via H/T at Ace of Spades HQ:
In case you're just waking up, there was an attack on an Orlando gay night club early this morning:
He has been identified as Omar Saddiqui Mateen, 29, of Fort Pierce, about 120 miles southeast of Orlando, two law enforcement officials tell CNN. Orlando authorities said they consider the violence an act of domestic terror. The FBI is involved. While investigators are exploring all angles, they "have suggestions the individual has leanings towards (Islamic terrorism), but right now we can't say definitely," said Ron Hopper, assistant special agent in charge of the FBI's Orlando bureau.
Reports are still somewhat confused, but what is not in doubt is that innocent Americans who were doing nothing more provocative than partying inside a club have been murdered. Please respect that tragic fact and pray for the victims and their loved ones.
So how will President 4putt react to this?
