Of course the “clock kid” has a $15M lawsuit

From Hotair:
Say… do you remember Ahmed “the Clock Kid” Mohamed? Last I heard he and his family were leaving the country for more friendly territory after the attention of the world was focused on his home made (or Radio Shack kit) clock which he brought to school, triggering a bomb scare. But before he’s done with America once and for all, his family appears to have one bit of unfinished business to attend to. If it’s not too much bother, they’d like $15M for all of the pain and anguish they were put through. (Yahoo News)
The Muslim teenager arrested when a teacher mistook his homemade clock for a bomb threatened to sue his school and the town of Irving, Texas for $15 million, his lawyer said Monday.
What a surprise........ I was wondering when the lawsuit was going to be filed.

Police Report Blocked by Muslim’s Clock-in-a-Case Lawsuit

From Breitbart's Big Government:
The Texas police department at the center of the Muslim-clock-inside-a-box controversy wants to bottle-up information that would help the public decide if Texas teachers and police were unfair to the Muslim boy who brought a suspected hoax-bomb to school — or if Texans were smeared as haters by progressives and President Barack Obama.

Department officials want to keep the information from the public because they’re facing a possible lawsuit by two lawyers working with the boy’s father and his political advisors at the jihad-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations, a source told Breitbart News.
...........................

Under normal circumstances, the police department releases information to the media no later than 10 days after a request for it. But the police department is asking Texas’ Attorney General for an exemption because of the expected lawsuit.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton will decide whether to grant the exemption to the police department.

Some information is also being hidden by the parents of the boy, Ahmed Mohamed.

The school can’t release additional information because the Sudanese parents of the boy have not signed the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, either for the boy or his older sister, Lesley Weaver, a spokeswoman for the district told Breitbart.
It seems as if every move by this family regarding the arrest of the son is aimed to maximize the settlement dollar of a potential lawsuit. If I were the targets of the lawsuit and I can't get my story out, I would offer nothing and take the family to court. All the information will be available in court for a jury to decide. This is where the family will lose. Yep, it will cost a pretty penny, but they need to stand on principle and destroy them in court.

Police Say Ahmed Won’t Pick Up His ‘Clock’ as Ahmed Cries to Media About Police Keeping It

From Breitbart's Big Government:
Irving police wait patiently for 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed to pick up his homemade suitcase clock that sits at police headquarters – for a week now. Local law enforcement reached out to the family to come and get it but no one did. Instead, the family claims police won’t release it and lawyered up to get it.

However, on Wednesday, Irving police told FOX 4 Dallas (KDFW) they notified the family last Friday that the clock and all items related to the incident were available for pickup. The Mohamed family has yet to retrieve the elaborate homemade 12-volt timepiece that resembles a “hoax bomb.” The teen’s Sept. 14 arrest at MacArthur High School and subsequent suspension were based on school zero tolerance policies, not racism.
.......................

Despite law enforcement’s repeated attempts to get the Mohameds to pick up the clock-in-a-box, the family claims they cannot retrieve it and lawyered up with two high-profile Dallas attorneys – Thomas Bowers and Reggie London. The family retained the duo to pursue “Ahmed’s legal rights and regain his science project from the Irving Police Department,” according to ABC News on Wednesday.
Seems as if the family is engaged, with the help of their legal team, of a PR war against the School and Police.

The same strategy used by Gloria Alfred.

The Ahmad Hoax Is Not Going to Hold, and The Media Will Be Massively Discredited

From Ace of Spades HQ:
I suppose that headline is a bit optimistic -- the media is very good about suppressing stories that expose them as frauds; see the Gosnell coverage.

But we're coming to a point where the media's continue refusal to acknowledge the obvious is going to become very embarrassing to them.

IBD states the obvious. (I can't quote it because it's short, but it dispels so much of the previous myth-making here; do read it.)

Suggesting, to me, that we're about to hit the moment of Peak Media Embarrassment is the fact that the tech community is now openly referring to this as a hoax. They focus on the fact that this kid did not "invent" anything -- he took a mass produced clock, took it out of its case, and put it into pencil box that looked like a small suitcase to make it look like a "cartoon" bomb.
The Drive-By Media will simply stop ANY reporting on the issue. They will ignore it and send it down the memory hole.

Ahmed’s Sister Admits School Suspension for Alleged Bomb Threat 3 Years Earlier

From Breitbart's Big Government:
The sister of the boy who brought a suspected hoax-bomb to his Texas high school said she was suspended from a school in a prior bomb scare. Her suspension occurred in 2009 while she was attending middle school in the same district.

Lesley Weaver, a spokeswoman for the district, said school officials can’t release any information about the 18-year-old sister’s episode because the Sudanese parents won’t sign the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, The school has already sent the form to the immigrant Sudanese parents, but they won’t sign it, she said.
Curious and curiouser .........

Obama Might Catch Backfire for Ahmad-the-Gentle-Clockmaker Story

From Ace of Spades HQ:
(Judge) Andrew Napolitano is now openly saying he believes the current evidence points to this being a deliberate hoax -- and that the police's theory was right. He says this having himself been one of the early critics of police (as I was -- though, I always insisted that it was proper to ask this kid questions and confiscate the clock; I only questioned the arrest angle).
........................

The series of disclosures -- that Ahmad did not "invent" a clock, but merely took a Radio Shack clock out of its casing and stuck it in a pencil box; that his sister had been previously suspended for allegedly threatening to blow up the school; that his sister was feeding him his lines when he spoke to Mark Cuban; that the family is collecting money to sue; that Ahmad's dad is a committed activist: that Irving's mayor has been targeted by Muslim activists for rejecting Sharia -- all of these disclosures are, taken together, suggesting this was a deliberate stunt, a provocation intended to trick the very gullible and leftwing and America-hating into adding their support to The Cause.
When all the information about this incident comes out, it will be yet another example of the Dear Leader speaking out BEFORE all the fact are out, which drives his narrative, but add another incident where he is wrong again. (Skip Gates, Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown)

Clock Kid’s Older Sister Claims She Was Suspended After Being Accused Of Making A Bomb Threat In Middle School

From Weasel Zippers via H/T at Ace of Spades HQ:
Ummm... this seems very interesting to me.

Ahmad's sister Eyman says this to Narrative-Weaver Randy Pats, who fails to so much as raise an eyebrow:
After the MSNBC segment, Eyman and I sit down in the hallway where she says the same thing happened to her as Ahmed. "I got suspended from school for three days from this stupid same district, from this girl saying I wanted to blow up the school, something I had nothing to do with."

.....................

"I got suspended and I didn’t do anything about it and so when I heard about Ahmed, I was so mad because it happened to me and I didn’t get to stand up, so I'm making sure he's standing up because it's not right. So I'm not jealous, I'm kinda like--it's like he’s standing for me."
It is so much like that it sounds to me like a possible motive for bringing a hoax bomb to school, to "stand up" for his sister who had been, she claims, falsely accused of wanting to "blow up the school."
Ok, that explains the kid's possible motive, but one has to ask, what is the dynamic going on in that family.

Dad is an activist and a perpetual Presidential Candidate in Sudan........

Ahmed’s Parents Still Won’t Sign Waiver Allowing School to Share Their Side of Story

From Breitbart's Big Government:
The Muslim parents of the boy who detonated an international hate-claim controversy by bringing a suspected hoax-bomb to his Texas school, still have not signed documents to release basic information which could corroborate — or undermine — their claims of school racism.

The school can’t release additional information because the Sudanese parents of the boy have not signed the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, either for the boy or his older sister, said Lesley Weaver, a spokeswoman for the district.

The school has sent a copy of the document to the parents, but they won’t sign it, she told Breitbart. “I wish we could…. provide more information to the media,” said Weaver, whose school district and local police force are now facing worldwide claims that they unfairly targeted the boy because of his Islamic background.
This is suspicious. If the parents claim of racism is so strong, why won't they authorize the release the tape?

Professor Calls Ahmed Mohamed’s Clock A ‘Fraud’

From The Daily Caller:
An adjunct professor at the University of Southern California called the device that 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed brought to his Texas school a “fraud.” Thomas Talbot, who is also a medical expert involved in “virtual reality and technology for health,” said in a YouTube video that all Mohamed did was remove an old digital clock from its plastic case.
It looks more and more like a hoax or a publicity stunt the the Family.

Ahmed Mohamed Didn’t Build a Clock — and Other Niggling Problems in the Story of Dallas’s Whizkid-of-the-Week

From National Review:
When I wrote about Ahmed Mohamed last week, I chalked up the affair to a few overzealous authority figures — who have peers all over the country. Just ask Josh Welch.
............................

Over the weekend, a blogger at Artvoice “reverse engineered” Ahmed’s clock from media photographs. His conclusion:
Somewhere in all of this – there has indeed been a hoax. Ahmed Mohamed didn’t invent his own alarm clock. He didn’t even build a clock. . . . He took apart an existing clock, and transplanted the guts into a pencil box, and claimed it was his own creation. (emphasis original)
According to the blogger, Ahmed took apart this 1986 Micronta digital alarm clock, and reassembled it in this Vaultz Locking Pencil Box.
And the balloon pops..........

Nerds Rage Over Ahmed Mohamed's Clock

From The Daily Beast:
Last week, Ahmed Mohamed’s homemade clock got him arrested and then invited to the White House. This week, the conspiracy theory backlash against his ‘invention’ begins.

The Muslim teen who became an overnight celebrity after Texas cops mistook his homemade clock for a bomb has received a White House invitation, shoutouts from Facebook, MIT, and NASA, and more than $15,000 for an academic scholarship.

But some engineers say something’s fishy about the high schooler’s invention, and the Internet has been lit aflame by claims of conspiracy.
.............................

Anthony DiPasquale, the webmaster for Artvoice.com, exposed the circuitry behind Mohamed’s clock. ......... But the self-styled electronics geek says that Mohamed’s homemade gadget is actually a factory-produced clock.
.............................

DiPasquale said all signs point to a mass-produced model. He traced the 1980s-era circuit board, which has a silk-screened “M” logo, to a vintage Micronta clock found on eBay. He noted other “dead giveaways” of a store-bought clock, including a switch to select 12- or 24-hour time and a battery backup.

“Anyone with even a basic hobby-level understanding could see it was a commercially available mass-produced product that was just taken out of its enclosure, and placed in a pencil box,” DiPasquale told The Daily Beast. “So I read some more about the story, and nowhere did I see anybody actually bring that point up.”
So one has to ask, why did the kid do it?
