I saw the new Superman movie today. Loved it!!!! I loved almost the entire cast. From Russell Crowe's Jor-El to Israeli Beauty Ayelet Zurer's Lara Lor-Van (Sup's biological mommy) to Diane Lane's Martha Kent. And Henry Cavill, the Brit portraying Clark/Kal-El, he's gonna cause a lot of women to leave the theater with wet panties.
But the best casting choice, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent. How would you like Kevin Costner as your farmer from Kansas dad?
(Spoiler Alert)
I didn't like the life lesson he drilled into Clark that he must HIDE is abilities, due to the adverse reaction the world would most likely have to his discovery. Jonathan Kent believed it to the point that he was willing to die, rather than be saved by his powerful son. The pain Clark suffered, knowing he COULD save his Father, but would not be allowed to do so, was needed to drive the plot line that Clark would never let anymore innocents die, if he could prevent it.
I do have issues with the choice of Amy Adams as Lois Lane. First of all, Lois Lane is supposed to be as beautiful, as she is a determined reporter. Amy does have the plucky stubborn streak, but it's more of an annoying pest, than pain in the ass quality. There has to be a more attractive actress who could have pulled off Lois. Cobie Smulders, Morena Baccarin, Jennifer Morrison, Kate Beckensale, Rachel Weisz, Kate Mara (maybe a little too young) or possibly Stana Katic?
There were some nice teasers for the sequel. One the the tanker truck destroyed in Metropolis during the battle with Zod belonged to LexCorp.
