Michelle Obama Wears $2300 Dress To Greet Pope

Politico reports that First Lady Michelle Obama, looking lovely and classy, greeted Pope Francis Tuesday while wearing a $2,290 dress. While the Obamas are not Catholics, this is still a finger-in-the-eye to a White House guest who frequently speaks out — to wild Democrat applause — about the evils of excessive capitalism. Both President and Mrs. Obama are disciples of Jeremiah Wright, a racist Jew-hating Chicago-based preacher. Not long after Obama ascended to the presidency, Wright, Obama’s religious mentor for 20 years, retired to a $1 million, 10,400 square foot mansion located next to a country club and golf course.

Other than this quick Politico blurb that doesn’t even take issue with the cost of Mrs. Obama’s dress, nowhere else has this news been reported. Compare this to the media’s 2012 media “firestorm” over Ann Romney’s $990 dress, which she wore on a morning show, not to stand in the shadow of St. Peter.

Another difference, Ann Romney probably bought the dress herself with HER own money. Moochelle probably got the dress for free from some designer.

Michelle Obama listed daughters Sasha and Malia as 'Senior Staff' on Africa junket

The professed purpose of Michelle Obama's trip to South Africa and Botswana was to encourage young people living in the two growing democracies to become involved in national affairs; and during her scheduled stops in Pretoria and Cape Town, South Africa and in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana, the First Lady used the opportunity to speak on education, health and wellness issues.The trip also included such tourist events as visits to historical landmarks and museums, plus a nonworking chance to send time with Nelson Mandela, a meeting that Mrs. Obama described as "surreal." The trip ended with a private family safari at a South African game reserve before the group returned to Washington on June 27."This trip was as much an opportunity for the Obama family to go on a safari as it was a trip to conduct government business," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "This junket wasted tax dollars and the resources of our overextended military. No wonder we had to sue to pry loose this information."

What is the story behind listing the daughters as "Senior Staff"? Are there regulations that would require reimbursement to the government for their travel if they were listed as children?

It makes sense that the Obama's would be gaming the system to avoid paying for their kids to be on the trip. The reality is that it really doesn't cost that much more to add the kids, even the Moochelle's Mom, niece, and nephew. The real question should be not so much that there are all the extra add-on, but why was the trip necessary in the first place?

• the images of the capture, killing and burial of Osama bin Laden (that might upset the terrorists);
• disastrous green energy loan guarantees;
• Benghazi;
• Billions of dollars of spending on Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac (the government takeover of the mortgage market);
• Hillary Clinton’s ethics compliance records (from an administration that has probably perfected the “ethics waiver,” but that’s another story).
