Army denies appeal of Afghan child rape whistleblower

From Hot Air:
Yesterday we found out that the White House is claiming to really not know much about the whole Afghanistan boy raping thing except what they find out by watching Morning Joe. But now that the news has broken, will they be doing anything about it? If they plan to they’ll need to move quickly because The Daily Caller reveals that Charles Martland, one of the soldiers accused of beating down a child rapist, has had an appeal of the decision to kick him out of the service denied.
Just another attack on the true warriors in the Military by the political hack Generals in HQ.

Disgusting! The Army is tring to find a way to make to Bo Bergdahl Court Martial go away, while retiring honorable soldiers.

Would Soldiers be Instructed to Turn a Blind Eye to the Rape of Girls?

From Dr. Helen:
I was watching Fox News at the gym and saw this horrific story about boys being raped in Afghanistan and soldiers being told told to look the other way:
Showcasing the honor of American soldiers in what is otherwise a harrowing report issued by The New York Times, U.S. military members are facing discipline for refusing to obey orders of turning a blind eye to Afghan “allies” who are keeping young boys as sex slaves.

Bacha bazi, translated literally as “boy play,” is considered the norm among Afghan police officers in the region. The practice has even been brazenly carried out on military bases. These “allies,” Afghani militia men organized to fight the Taliban, are armed and set in charge as commanders in villages and remain unfettered in their pursuits. But because bacha bazi is a cultural staple, Marines and other American soldiers “have been instructed not to intervene,” according to the NYT…

Other soldiers have faced similar outcomes. In fact, assisting Quinn in the physical altercation meant to protect the young boy was Sgt. First Class Charles Martland. Because he also ignored orders to look the other way, the Army opened a court case to force his retirement.
Really, if these were girls, would the US government have soldiers turn the other way? And where is Michelle Obama to “bring back our boys?” Or some form of compassion from the White House for these boys being used as sex slaves right before their very noses? It’s disgusting and horrific.
This is a thought that I missed. Considering the current "War on Women" narrative, which is actually a 'War on Men." How would the liberals in the country react, if the victims were girls?

Yet, another question for Hillary......

U.S. Soldiers Told to Ignore Sexual Abuse of Boys by Afghan Allies

From The New York Times via H/T at Ace of Spades HQ:
KABUL, Afghanistan — In his last phone call home, Lance Cpl. Gregory Buckley Jr. told his father what was troubling him: From his bunk in southern Afghanistan, he could hear Afghan police officers sexually abusing boys they had brought to the base.

“At night we can hear them screaming, but we’re not allowed to do anything about it,” the Marine’s father, Gregory Buckley Sr., recalled his son telling him before he was shot to death at the base in 2012. He urged his son to tell his superiors. “My son said that his officers told him to look the other way because it’s their culture.”

Rampant sexual abuse of children has long been a problem in Afghanistan, particularly among armed commanders who dominate much of the rural landscape and can bully the population. The practice is called bacha bazi, literally “boy play,” and American soldiers and Marines have been instructed not to intervene — in some cases, not even when their Afghan allies have abused boys on military bases, according to interviews and court records.

The policy has endured as American forces have recruited and organized Afghan militias to help hold territory against the Taliban. But soldiers and Marines have been increasingly troubled that instead of weeding out pedophiles, the American military was arming them in some cases and placing them as the commanders of villages — and doing little when they began abusing children.
This is sickening. It's nice to see that the NEW Times is actual;ly covering this, but does the Times cover this topic to smear the Military?

There needs to be a Congressional Hearing to ask the Military Commanders a few simple questions. Was this a civilian or military decision? Name the person who signed the memo regarding this Policy?

And them drag that person's ass up to the Hill and ask for an explanation.

Robert Stacy McCain at The Other McCain adds:
But also notice the rest of the media, while finding time to jump on Ben Carson for criticizing Islam, is not asking [The Obama Administration] about this horrific policy of arming gay Muslim pedophiles at U.S. taxpayer expense, and punishing American troops who don’t like it.

Obama's Syrian Nightmare

From The New York Times via H/T at Instapundit:
Syria will be the biggest blot on the Obama presidency, a debacle of staggering proportions. For more than four years now, the war has festered. A country has been destroyed, four million Syrians are refugees, Islamic State has moved into the vacuum and President Bashar al-Assad still drops barrel bombs whose shrapnel and chlorine rip women and children to shreds.

For a long time, those who fled waited in the neighborhood. They wanted to go home. They filled camps in Turkey and Jordan and Lebanon. When it became clear even to them that “home” no longer existed, nothing could stop them in their desperate flight toward the perceived security of Europe. The refugee crisis is the chronicle of a disaster foretold
........................

President Obama has tried to claw back American overreach after the wars without victory in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Actually, we had won in Iraq until Obama threw it away. And Syria, alas, is not Obama’s only debacle. What’s missing from Cohen’s column? Hillary’s complicity. And Joe Biden’s.
........................

Like Carter’s weakness with Iran, we will be paying for Obama’s criminal negligence for a long time.
There is only one American who is haapy with this debacle, Jimmy Carter. Now he won't be considered the worst foreign policy president of American History.

Robert Gates's memoirs add to the sense that Obama's presidency is unravelling

From the UK Telegraph:
When a man who has worked for every president since Nixon, barring Bill Clinton, says that the White House was by "far the most centralized and controlling" since Kissinger had ruled the roost, it is not a criticism that can be lightly batted away.

Such truth-telling, coming from such a source, at such at time – Mr Gates could have waited at least until after Mr Obama left office - simply deepens the sense of unraveling that is gripping Mr Obama's administration.

From the short extracts so far available, the once ineffably cool-cat president is portrayed as a man who – as he himself said at the very start of his presidency – always believes he is his own best adviser, and who, for all his "take the high road" rhetoric, has a sharp eye for political calculation.
Yep, he's about as calculating of a Pol as there is.
