Red State Dems to Gabby Giffords, Mark Kelly -- Please Stay Away

Red state Democrats who are fighting to overcome their support of gun control and get re-elected are asking gun control proponents Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly to stay out of their states.

This comes after Breibart News' June 4 report that Giffords and Kelly planned to help Senators Mark Udall (D-CO), Mary Landrieu (D-LA), and Kay Hagan (D-NC) get re-elected this November.

Now Udall, Landrieu, and Hagan are pushing Giffords and Kelly to stay away from their races.

According to The Washington Times, the three incumbents are trying to keep gun control from erupting as a major issue in their contests, and they fear that is exactly what will happen once Giffords and Kelly join the fray.

Moreover, "political strategists" warn the red state Democrats that "the gun issue poses too much risk for Democrats already struggling in those red and purple states."

I have long suspected, even though she has tried to sell herself as a Pro-2nd Amendment Democrat, she was always a gun control supporter at heart. Since she is a Democrat.

The Left has been conducting an open campaign lately to persuade coerce Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, whose health has been shaky the last few years, to retire immediately so that President Obama can replace her with a high octane liberal while Democrats still have a majority in the Senate.  Nothing speaks “confidence” in your prospects more than trying to push a loyal soldier out the door.  So far the crusade is failing, and I hope she hangs on for exactly the reason the Left wants her out.

How great would it be, with a Republican President and Senate that a Scalia/Alito type Justice is confirmed to replace Ginsberg?

Obama passes on Keystone Decision once again, Democrats left scrambling.

Once again President Obama has bowed to his environmentalist supporters and passed on making a decision for or against the Keystone XL Pipeline. But the President's refusal to make a decision has left several Democrats running for re-election stammering to explain to constituents why thousands of new jobs are still in limbo.

By constantly putting off any final decision these many years Obama has placated his extreme environmental activist donor base. However, in February the President said he'd have a decision "one way or another" in "a couple of months." Yet even as it is closing in on two months later, Obama is still refusing to make that final decision.

But by not approving the pipeline, thousands of jobs and millions in economic benefits have also been put in limbo and this loss of income and jobs is not sitting well with many.

Recently a large construction union warned Democrats that they would be targeted for defeat in the upcoming midterm elections due to this failure to approve the project.

Additionally, now that the President has again put off a final decision, several Democrats are finding that this inaction is coming back to haunt their election campaigns.

So the Dear Leader passes on yet ANOTHER HARD decision

Party of Cowards -- Eight Democrats Vote Against Obama's Controversial Civil Rights Division Nominee, Mumia Abu-Jamal's Former Lawyer

Six of the key seven there make sense: Casey, Donnelly, Heitkamp, Manchin, Pryor, and Walsh are all either red- or purple-staters and therefore leery of cuddling up to a guy who’s known for having defended Mumia Abu-Jamal. Coons is the outlier. He’s from deep-blue Delaware and doesn’t face reelection for another two years....

Another surprise is some of the red-state Democrats who did vote yes, including/especially red-staters who are up in November. What on earth were Mary Landrieu and Kay Hagan, who’s rocking a 33 percent approval rating these days in North Carolina, thinking?

There is a mystery here, as Allah explains. One Democrat apparently flipped from "yes" to "no" at the last minute. Joey Bidez was standing by to cast a tie-breaking 51st vote to put this nominee over the top-- but a Democrat decided to duck and vote "no" to avoid the spectacle of that.

Harry Reid voting against the measure was a procedural move, so that explains his vote. But I am surprised he even brough the vote to the floor before he got a solid count. They knew it would be close, since Biden was their to case the tie breaking vote. BUT the Dims lost by 2.

Abandon ship - Henry Waxman to retire

When he goes home in January, he’ll have served 40 years in Congress. Before taking his seat in 1975, he served six years as a member of the California state legislature. His entire adult life from the age of 29 has been spent in government. Grotesque.

Here’s a list of the many, many bills he helped write over the years. Scroll through and you’ll see this is no ordinary retirement; this is House Democrats losing one of their policy engines. It’s no ordinary retirement for the leadership, either. Waxman was, famously, one of Pelosi’s right-hand men; so was George Miller, another California Democrat who’s on his way out. Expect the Pelosi Retirement Watch to begin … well, now, actually.

An interesting footnote on Waxman: His district became more conservative after the lines were redrawn as part of the 2010 redistricting. Evidently California’s Democratic legislature decided to stick him with a few more Republican voters on the assumption that, as a state institution and perennial winner, he could handle it with no sweat. It didn’t play out that way in 2012. He won by just eight points over an independent, a scent of blood in the water that attracted newbie candidates this year. A guy who’s spent his 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and half of his 70s winning elections isn’t going to risk leaving Congress by being ignominiously hauled out by voters, a fate that his California colleague Pete Stark — who also served 40 years in the House — suffered in 2012. You can’t fire Henry. He quits.

I so wish the arrogant bastard would run again and lose, like Pete Stark did. Not quit, but fired.

Take This, Harry Reid - Senate Republicans FINALLY fight back ! ! !

Senator Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania figured out how to get a little payback from Senate Majority Leader "Dingy" Harry Reid Wednesday for the czar-like way he runs the Senate. Introduce what are known as “third degree” amendments to must-pass legislation being debated, and when they are ruled out-of-order, appeal the ruling and call for a roll call vote, effectively tying the place up, delaying what is going on, and forcing vulnerable Democrats to cast votes that may hurt them in the next election.

So for the first time in months, Republicans went on the offensive. Toomey offered an amendment Wednesday to the bill now being debated to extend unemployment benefits that prohibits such benefits going to people making over $1 million a year – not exactly controversial. As expected, the amendment was ruled out of order, since Reid doesn’t allow Republican amendments.

However, surprise to Reid, Toomey appealed that order, which under the arcane Senate rules he is allowed to do. So what did Democrats do? At Reid’s demand, they started filibustering the appeal, which prohibited a vote in order to preserve Reid’s prohibition against Republican amendments.

The significance of what Toomey did was to demonstrate that no one senator may block amendments in the Senate like the Rules Committee does in the House. If senators can do it once, they can do it again, and again and again, forcing votes on amendments to must-pass legislation, in the process essentially ending the majority leader's ability to block Republican amendments.

Harry, paybacks a bitch and you just got pwn'd.

It uses footage of Shaheen using the "if you like your insurance you can keep it" line while noting on screen that President Obama was given the "lie of the year" by PolitiFact for saying the same thing. A narrator points out that 20,000 New Hampshire residents have had their insurance canceled and that the Affordable Care Act offers only a single provider on the state's individual market. The ad ends with this dagger of a line: "Next November, if you like your Senator, you can keep her. If not, you know what to do." Oomph.

The conservative group Ending Spending may have premiered the ad that nationalizes the 2014 midterm elections around Obamacare.

The 30-second killer ad was produced by Republican media consultant Larry McCarthy and goes after Jeanne Shaheen, the first-term Democratic Senator from New Hampshire who is likely to face former GOP Senator Scott Brown next year.
