The news that Remington Outdoor Co. is expanding into Huntsville, Alabama became official today when Robert Mayes, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County, said the new Remington facility "will transform the economic landscape of North Alabama." ......................................FInally, Reminington decided to "expand" outside of New York. Many 2nd Amendment proponants have been wondering when Remington would make this move since the middle of the night passage of the NY SAFE Act, which make most of the products manufactured in Remington's Ilion, NY Plant illegal.
According to AL.com, Remington CEO George Kollitides explained Remington's decision to expand into Alabama by pointing to the state's motto: "We Dare Defend Our Rights." Kollitides said that motto "says it all," and Remington is proud to bring the oldest gunmaker in America to the "city that built the Apollo moon rocket." ......................................
Union officials are concerned the Alabama plant will endanger the 1,300 jobs which currently exist at the Remington plant in Ilion, NY.
Add Governor Cuomo's recent radio interview when he said, “right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, [or] anti-gay” “have no place in the state of New York,” the writing was on the wall for this "move."
One added bonus, Alabama is a "right to work" state, i.e. no union. So Remington "expands" to a 2nd Amendment friendly state that will allow it to shed it's union workers. It's a win-win-win.
I do wonder, when and if, the Union leadership will wake up and realize that the Dims are not their friends. The Dims Leadership does not want the Keystone Pipeline to be built, another source for Union jobs. Hopefully a civil war will break out in the Democratic party between the Unions and the Environmentalists.
